Statement From the Scott County Democratic Party Executive Committee:
Hello Fellow Democrats,
In order to navigate through the current virus crisis, the Scott County Iowa Democrats have the tools at our fingertips to succeed. Those tools include our dedicated Central Committee, Executive Board, and numerous volunteers.
During this time of flux, we will be adjusting to use technology more to hold meetings and to conduct our month to month business. As is customary and to conform to our By-Laws and Constitution, agendas will be provided and roll call will be taken to determine quorum, and votes will be conducted accordingly.
We want to keep the Central Committee updated with the process of how County Conventions will be done. The Executive Board, Credentials and Rules committees plus our expert IT volunteers have been working with the Iowa Democratic Party (IDP) to accomplish this.
There will be a two-step process. First, a Registration form with instructions will be sent digitally or mailed the week of April 12 to delegates and alternates. Responses will be due Friday April 17 (digitally or postmarked). These will be safe and secure methods.
Second, after completion of the Registration process, a Ballot form with multiple sections will be sent via the same means. Those responses will be due by Thursday April 30. After the Ballots are tabulated, we will know the results the first week in May as to which delegates and alternates will advance to District and State Conventions. We will also know Arrangements, Credentials, Rules, and Platform members who will advance.
I know you all have many questions, and they will be answered. We just need to complete one step at a time. Thank you for your patience as we work through this. This is just one of the important items on our minds. First and foremost, keep yourself and your families safe. We will prevail.
